I’d like to make my first blog on Renew Media a preface for the following ones I’ll write. I have been in new media for a number of years now from internet-print to mobile-music & games and now back to internet-video, and the one take away I have from it all is that every new evolution of technology bring choice.
Today we are experience technology innovation primarily in the area of entertainment.
That has led to unprecedented choice. We have choice to watch what we want, when we want, where and how we want. This whirlwind of choice has dropped us now, in early 2007 where not only can we watch what we want, filmmakers, and media makes can distribute what they want, when they want, HOW they want.
There are enough companies out there seeking to empower content creators to get ‘exposure’. Distribution is about finding the right audience where someone (viewers or advertisers) to make you money.
So while today the playing field looks ripe for the taking, there is still a lot of hard work to be done by filmmakers to make a living off of their work. I am going to write about what it takes to legitimately self-distribute content.
The topics I plan to cover are:
Look forward to writing about these topics and creating dialog!
