Brian Newman
President and Executive Director (email)
Brian Newman joined Renew Media as Executive Director in 2004, and is responsible for oversight and strategic direction of all NVR programming, development and operations. Prior to joining Re:New Media, he served as executive director of IMAGE Film & Video Center, producers of the Atlanta Film Festival, and as market coordinator for the Independent Feature Project in New York City. Mr. Newman also served as assistant coordinator of Media Arts for the South Carolina Arts Commission, managing the Southern Circuit film tour. He brings expertise in audience building, marketing and community outreach.
Eileen Newman
Deputy Director (email)
Eileen Newman recently joined Renew Media as Deputy Director. Previously she was the Executive Director of the National Board of Review, Senior Director of Programming at the Independent Feature Project and she served as Executive Director of Film/Video Arts for many years. Ms. Newman is active in the New York film community, serving on the boards of the New York Production Alliance, Manhattan Neighborhood Network (Board Chair) and previously the board of New York Women in Film and Television. She often speaks on panels about independent media and has been a juror and panel member for the Miami International Film Festival, the Jerome Foundation, and the Department of Cultural Affairs among others.
Alison Greenberg
Executive Assistant From Renew Media (email)
She recently graduated with a double major in Film Critical Studies and International Relations from the University of Southern California. She serves as the administrative and clerical assistant to the executive director.
Leah Giblin
Program Associate (email)
Before coming to Renew Media, Leah assisted at organizations such as the Tribeca Film Festival, the Independent Feature Project and the Philadelphia Film Festival. She helps meet current Fellows’ needs, while also working with the proposals for future Fellowships.
Helen Lang
Director of Finance (email)
Helen Lang is responsible for accounting and finance at Renew Media. Helen has worked in the non-profit arena for two decades, principally in a fiscal and administrative capacity. A graduate of Vassar College, she has an MFA in Film Production from NYU, and an MBA from Columbia University .
Lucila Moctezuma
Media Arts Fellowships Director (email)
Lucila Moctezuma is the director of the Media Arts Fellowships program. She has worked in New York’s independent film community since 1996, including the Independent Feature Project (IFP) and the Latin American Video Archive (LAVA).. She has collaborated with several national and international film festivals, among them the Margaret Mead Film and Video Festival in NY, the Morelia International Film Festival in Mexico, and currently as the US delegate for the Huesca International Film Festival in Spain. She has been a juror for the Media that Matters, Youth Free Expression Network from the NAAC and LaCinemaFe film festivals and is on the Board of Trustees for the Flaherty Film Seminar and on the Advisory Board for the Forum Internacional de Cine de Monterrey in Mexico, and for New Children/New York.. Lucila has worked in different areas of film and video production, including the PBS series The New Americans, produced by Kartemquin Films, and the series Shocking and Awful produced by Deep Dish TV which was included in the 2006 Whitney Biennial. Lucila, originally from Mexico City, studied Philosophy at the Universidad Iberoamericana, where she also taught from 1991 to 1995.
Anita Serwacki

Before joining Renew, she was Executive Director, Operations at Sundance Channel where she oversaw all production and operational aspects of the Sundance Channel Home Entertainment line as well as the 2003 Sundance Film Series. Prior to Sundance, Anita was with Focus Features (as well as its previous incarnations, USA Films and October Films). There she oversaw business affairs and post-production issues for all releases. She also established a music business within the company, which eventually led to her serving as music supervisor for the critically acclaimed documentary “The Kid Stays In The Picture.” Her writing credits include an ongoing stint as Contributing Writer with the satirical paper The Onion, writer for the upcoming Soup2Nuts/PBS animated children’s series “Word Girl,” and co-author of the book The Dangerous Book For Dogs which will be released on the Random House imprint Villard in Fall 2007.

As the Web Developer, Daniel Su oversees Renew Media’s web sites and information technology since 2001. He is formerly the web developer for Wheaton College and Hope Laboratories.
